Holy warrior with strong healing, defensive abilities, and melee damage. Versatile and beginner-friendly.

Overview

Templars channel the power of the sun and divine light. They are the most natural healers in ESO with powerful group heals and damage mitigation. Their Aedric Spear and Dawn Wrath skill lines also make them capable DPS and off-tanks.

Strengths

  • +Best healer in the game with the strongest burst and sustained healing
  • +Very beginner-friendly with simple but effective DPS rotations
  • +Strong group utility with Shards synergy and Power of the Light debuff
  • +Jab builds are excellent for solo content with built-in self-healing

Weaknesses

  • -DPS ceiling is slightly lower than Nightblade or Arcanist in top-end PvE
  • -Melee-focused DPS can be punishing in high-damage encounters
  • -Limited crowd control compared to Dragonknight or Warden
  • -Tank role is functional but lacks the pull and sustain of Dragonknight

Tips & Tricks

  • 1Breath of Life is the strongest burst heal in the game -- always keep it ready.
  • 2Jab builds (Biting Jabs/Puncturing Sweeps) are easy to play and self-sustaining.
  • 3Power of the Light is essential for DPS -- it applies Minor Breach and explodes for big damage.
  • 4Blazing Spear provides AoE damage and a synergy for group members.
